Stories Aren't Meant to be Written Alone

The Stories We Were Never Meant to Write Alone

~~~
If you've spent any time in creative circles, you've probably heard the phrase, "Writing is a solitary pursuit."
In many ways, that's true.
No one can sit down and write your story for you. The hours spent brainstorming, drafting, revising, and wrestling with the words are yours alone. Every writer eventually faces moments of uncertainty, wondering whether the story they're working on is worth finishing.
Yet while writing may happen in solitude, the creative journey was never meant to be walked alone. The stories we write may be destined to sit on a shelf for a while; several of my own are there right now, but there will come a time when someone finds them. There will be a time when someone will be touched by your work.
Nearly every author can point to people who helped them along the way as well. A teacher who encouraged them. A friend who read an early draft. An artist whose work inspired them. A reader whose kind words arrived at just the right moment.
Creative communities matter because they remind us that our struggles are often shared. The challenges we face as writers, artists, and storytellers are rarely unique. Others have faced them before us and found a way forward.
That belief is one of the foundations of Lanterns of Light PenWorks.
~~~

My hope is to create a place where writers and readers can gather around a shared love of storytelling, faith, and creativity. Not because any one person has all the answers, but because we are stronger when we learn from one another's experiences.

Stories have always brought people together. They help us understand different perspectives, offer hope during difficult seasons, and remind us that we are not as alone as we sometimes feel.

The same is true for the people who create them.

Whether you're an author polishing your fifteenth manuscript, an artist developing your craft, or someone just beginning to write the story that's been resting on your heart, there is a place for you in the creative community.

You don't have to have all the answers.
You don't have to have everything figured out.
You simply have to keep moving forward.
One page.
One chapter.
One story at a time.

And as Lanterns of Light PenWorks continues to grow, my hope is that it becomes a place where creators can encourage one another, celebrate one another's successes, and find the support needed to continue the work they've been called to do.

After all, a single lantern can light a path, but many lanterns together can illuminate an entire road.

See you in the pages,

M.J.E.
